this is the first release of the new Tilt-Recordings imprint
featuring two tracks by very talented musician and producer
Budoka from Darmstadt/Germany. delivering new ideas in shape
of individual beat-arrangements and moving basslines,
"Mindwalker" and "Phenomenia" show deeper affairs with
detailed build-ups and minimal, rolling business.
Budoka has been playing guitar in several bands for more than
ten years, was experiencing acoustic drums, started deejaying
for Phishmaol Crew in 1996 and produces Drum'n'Bass since 2000.
together with Eli MC he releases Hip Hop as "Oberton"
on their own label Traumsoldaten Records.
later releases on Tilt-Recordings will feature more technical
inspired dancefloor oriented Drum N Bass from german artists.

* text used for "re"-release internationally 2008: *
This is the very first Release on Tilt-Recordings with Budoka' debut tunes.
It has originally been released and distributed only in Germany in 2004,
and it has never been available world wide except via the label directly -
now is the first time the release is distributed internationally.
Budoka - "Mindwalker"
"Mindwalker" was nothing less than innovative and unusual at the time of it's
original release in early 2004 and is still a solid tune by today's standards.
It takes over two minutes to build up a beautifully paranoid atmosphere in the
intro and kill it in the bridge, then the tune drops with a dry, compressed
bassline playing only one key and creating drive with it's syncopated rythm.
The tune presents itself as a very reduced and highly technoid stepper.
After some shock seconds comes a growling, very unusually sounding midrange
in counter-dynamic arrangement with the bassline, and then the tune adds more
and more percussion elements, counter-midranges, stabs and occasional pads,
building up more and more energy and drive until the breakdown eventually
brings it down and back to the intro theme. Then the tune is stripped down to
the bassline and one counter-midrange, exposing the naked, breathing compressor
before the beat comes back and the tune drops again, this time in full pace.
The outro again strips the tune down while leaving the bassline until then end,
breaking with the convention of DJ-friendly outros for the sake of musical ideas.
Budoka - "Phenomenia"
"Phenomenia" reminds of some of the deeper tunes by the old Cause 4 Concern,
"showing deeper affairs with detailed build-ups and minimal, rolling business."
It combines well known lead sound designs courtesy of the Guildford based crew
with a deep, melancholic atmosphere and the "Wicked city" theme, giving it a
second Drum & Bass interpretation after Technical Itch did one 4 years earlier.
At the time of the release, Budoka had been playing guitar in several bands
for more than ten years. He was experimenting with acoustic drums, had started
deejaying and was in the Phishmaol Crew (most prominent members in the 1990s:
Tyrell and MC Santana; most prominent member today: Budoka) in 1996 and had
produced Drum'n'Bass tunes since 2000. Together with Eli MC he was also making
HipHop as "Oberton" (they released an EP on their label Traumsoldaten Records).
